Mathematics Courses
Consumer Arithmetic: (½ credit) Consumer (elementary) arithmetic functions useful to consumers in general, such as purchasing items, banking, credit, savings, interest rates spent and earned, kitchen measurements, utility measurements and costs, etc.

Pre-Algebra:  (½ credit)  Pre-Algebra is the study of simple mathematics, numbers, symbols, and the like. It is important as a prerequisite for the study of higher mathematics. This course’s contents serve the student as a foundation for studies of algebra, geometry, trigonometry, etc. [R]

Geometry:   (1 credit) Geometry includes studies of shapes, volumes, lines, angles and combinations of various forms.  Included is “plane” geometry and an amount of “solid”  geometry in which the objects studied include a number of different shapes such as boxes, pyramids, spheres, etc.

Algebra:   (1 credit) Algebra is used to solve problems related to “knowns” and “unknowns” using symbols, relationships, formulae, etc.

Trigonometry:  ( 1 credit) Trigonometry deals with the relationships between the sides and angles of triangles (hence its title) and other shapes and objects. The branches of this  study are generally thought of as plane, spherical, and analytical trigonometry.

Calculus:   (1 credit) Calculus is concerned with rates of change of continuous functions as
their “arguments” change (among other things).  In this course both differential calculus and integral calculus are studied.

Business Mathematics: (1 credit)  Accounting math covers the systematic development and analysis of arithmetic information concerning the economic affairs of an organization - where did the money come from and where did it go and what do we do with what we have and should we get more.

Conversions:  (No credit) Links to a number of conversion factor tables to assist the student in studies using mathematics of any nature
